Self Portrait - For Once

Instead of taking portraits of my twin sister, I decided to give myself a chance. I wanted these to be about being alone - not that I feel alone now, but because sooner or later, I will need to start the process of distancing myself from my safety net. We live separately now, and it feels strange.

Raymond Oxton died alone May 23, 2003. He left his house and belongings behind to be taken by looters, the elements, and time. It has been transformed from a place where life existed to a place where only a ghost of a forgotten man and his things remain. I love this shit.

To Raymond - I took two of your lamps. I hope that's okay. Also some photo albums. They needed someone to look at them. Also your handkerchief and some lace. Your things are just how you left them, only older and dustier. I've pieced together your life and passions because of the things you left behind in your beautiful house on Elm Street in Camden, Maine, and I must say: It's a shame we never met.
